Bangkok, 17 November, 2022 – Thailand has been voted among the winners in two high-profile travel awards in the United Kingdom, with its latest accolades including the title of ‘Favourite Country for a Holiday’ by Ultratravel magazine and an outstanding award in the category of Star Cultural Tourism Destination by Travel Bulletin magazine.
Mr. Yuthasak Suapsorn, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), said “The winning of these prestigious accolades is wonderful news for Thailand, and show that as a destination we are still very much beloved by international travellers and that we remain a preferred top-of-mind holiday spot. This is also very encouraging at a time when world travel is resuming again, and we invite UK tourists to come to Thailand where the welcome, the weather and the hospitality is always warm.”
At the 2022 ULTRAs (The Ultimate Luxury Travel Related Awards) presented in London on 31 October, 2022, Thailand was honoured with the award for ‘Favourite Country for a Holiday’.
Also doing Thailand proud at the 2022 ULTRAs was Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort in Chiang Rai which was named a runner-up in the ‘Sustainable Hotel of the Year’ category, and Capella Bangkok which was also a runner-up in the ‘Best New Hotel’ category.
Since 2007, Ultratravel magazine – with readership of 1.2 million active affluent travellers – has organised and staged The ULTRAS awards presentations and the Ultratravel Forum in places like London, Cannes, New York, Dubai and Shanghai. These have been attended by high level management from luxury travel companies and well-known international travellers including royalty, celebrities and sporting champions.
Also held in London on 31 October, 2022, was the Travel Bulletin Star Awards 2022 by UK magazine Travel Bulletin at which Thailand received an outstanding award in the category of Star Cultural Tourism Destination. The kingdom was also among the nominees for two other categories – Star Winter Sun Destination, and Star All-Round Destination.
The Travel Bulletin Star Awards 2022 was another high-profile occasion, with the winners being presented their accolades by comedian Justin Moorhouse.
