TAT Joins Skift Asia Forum 2025 to Discuss Inbound Travel Growth Across the Region

Bangkok, 17 May 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), represented by Mr. Nithee Seeprae, Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications, participated as a special guest speaker at the Skift Asia Forum 2025.

Held on 15 May, the session was titled “Accelerating Inbound Travel Across the Region” and featured Ms. Laura Houldsworth, Managing Director and Vice President, Asia Pacific, at Booking.com, with moderation by Ms. Monica Pitrelli, Travel Editor at CNBC.

The Skift Asia Forum 2025 took place from 14–15 May in Bangkok and convened over 200 delegates from across the tourism sector for two days of in-depth dialogue on the future of travel. Under the theme “Asia’s New Priorities”, the forum gathered industry leaders from prominent organisations including the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), Thai Airways International, Agoda, Booking.com, Trip.com, Klook, and CNBC.

Discussions focused on the transformative role of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and social commerce, as well as the importance of developing bespoke tourism offerings to cater to high-value segments, including luxury and Muslim travellers. These insights are expected to support Thailand in expanding its base of quality tourists and enhancing the long-term sustainability of its tourism economy.

Thailand Secures 2,500-Strong Infinitus Incentive Group from China

Bangkok, 16 May 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has welcomed more than 2,500 delegates from Infinitus (China) under the Group Incentive Travel strategy aimed at the Chinese market. The visit reinforces Thailand’s position as a leading destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) in Asia.

The Infinitus group is visiting Thailand from 12 to 19 May, arriving in three batches. Each group follows a separate travel route within the country—Phuket–Bangkok, Chiang Mai–Bangkok, and Pattaya–Rayong–Bangkok—offering participants a chance to explore regional highlights before gathering in Bangkok for a large-scale seminar and gala event at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) on 17 May.

TAT Deputy Governor for Digitalisation, Research and Development, Mr. Kittipong Prapattong, will preside over the gala, which celebrates the Infinitus conference and highlights Thailand’s capability to host high-value Chinese visitors with efficiency and warmth.

The gala event will also feature a traditional Thai cultural performance, supported by TAT, adding a memorable local touch and reflecting the country’s unique identity. TAT also produced a welcome video thanking Infinitus for choosing Thailand as their preferred incentive destination for over a decade, underscoring the strength of the long-standing partnership.

To make the occasion even more special, a VIP welcome was organised at Suvarnabhumi Airport on 13 May for Infinitus executives and team leaders. Arriving from Guangzhou on China Southern Airlines flight, the group was received by Mr. Chuwit Sirivejkul, TAT’s Regional Director for East Asia, along with TAT staff and representatives from Guangzhou Huiyue International Travel Service.

This visit forms part of TAT’s broader strategy to attract quality tourism from China, positioning Thailand as the destination of choice for large-scale incentive travel. More major corporate groups are expected throughout 2025, building on this success.

Founded in 1992, Infinitus is a leading Chinese health brand specialising in herbal supplements. The company regularly rewards high-performing representatives with international trips. This year’s programme continues a strong relationship with Thailand, following a similar visit in 2024 involving more than 3,000 delegates.

Thailand Unveils “Mueang Na Tiew: Year of Celebration” to Boost Domestic Travel

Bangkok, 14 May 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched “Mueang Na Tiew: Year of Celebration”, a nationwide campaign featuring 12 themed travel experiences to stimulate domestic tourism during the 2025 Green Season (June–September). Focusing on 55 secondary cities, the initiative combines curated experiences with exclusive promotions from travel and lifestyle partners.

Mr. Krisada Tanterdthit, Minister Secretary, stated: “This campaign unites public and private sectors to expand travel opportunities and stimulate regional spending. It plays a strategic role in strengthening Thailand’s tourism economy, distributing income to local communities, and laying the foundation for sustainable growth.”

Mr. Apichai Chatchalermkit, TAT Deputy Governor for the Domestic Market, added: “Mueang Na Tiew: Year of Celebration aims to boost domestic travel during the rainy season through bold city branding and targeted initiatives. It resonates with today’s Thai travellers – from digital nomads and solo explorers to foodies, families and LGBTQ+ couples – by reflecting emerging lifestyle trends and travel subcultures.”

The campaign features 12 themed experiences designed to appeal to a broad range of interests — from peaceful escapes for busy professionals and adrenaline-filled adventures for thrill-seekers, to scenic getaways for content creators and romantic backdrops for LGBTQ+ couples.

It also empowers solo female travellers to embrace independence, invites visitors to unplug and reconnect with nature, and offers water-based activities such as rafting, snorkelling, and stand-up paddleboarding. Active seniors are encouraged to tick off their travel bucket lists with energising, experience-rich journeys.

In addition, the campaign celebrates regional Thai BBQ hotspots, promotes meaningful family trips during Mother’s Day, welcomes pet owners to explore with their four-legged companions, and invites food lovers to embark on immersive culinary journeys that highlight local flavours, culture, and storytelling.

To support the initiative, TAT has partnered with a range of travel and lifestyle brands offering exclusive promotions. These include fare discounts from VietJet Air (15%), Thai Lion Air (up to 25%), and Nok Air, as well as bonus miles from Royal Orchid Holidays. Accommodation deals are available through platforms such as Gother and PaTour. Car rental partners including Pet Friendly Thailand, AVIS, and Chic Car Rent are offering special rates, while Yacht Me, Love Andaman, and Local Alike provide discounted tour packages.

TAT Launches “Grand Moment” Campaign to Elevate Domestic Tourism in 2025

Bangkok, 13 May 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched Grand Moment, a domestic campaign under the national initiative Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism & Sports Year 2025. Centred on three core themes – Moment of Giving, Moment of Memory, and Moment of Miracle – the campaign will introduce nine unique travel experiences across the country. Two projects are already live, with the remaining seven set to roll out from June onwards.

TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool said: “Grand Moment is designed to inspire Thai travellers to rediscover the country in ways that are both meaningful and memorable. It reflects TAT’s strategic commitment to domestic tourism as a powerful engine for inclusive growth. While TAT is globally recognised for international promotion, it is domestic travel that anchors long-term sustainability—circulating income, strengthening communities, and improving quality of life nationwide.”

The campaign’s themes are crafted to foster emotional connection with travel. Moment of Giving celebrates the joy of giving—whether to oneself, others, local communities, or the environment. Moment of Memory invites travellers to revisit cherished destinations and relive treasured moments. Moment of Miracle highlights Thailand’s natural beauty and rare seasonal phenomena.

Among the two flagship projects already underway is Exclusive Escape, offering premium travel deals through leading lifestyle partners. Highlights include five-star hotel discounts via Gother, exclusive gifts for KTC credit card top spenders at over 60 luxury hotels, and complimentary champagne for couples dining at Santhiya Koh Yao Yai Resort and Spa.

The second initiative, Experience the Magic, connects travellers with extraordinary natural spectacles—such as bioluminescent plankton in Chumphon and the pink sea of mist at Kew Mae Pan in Chiang Mai. The campaign also features the Grand Moment Mystery Box, rewarding guests who check in at participating hotels this August with surprise gifts.

The remaining seven projects will cater to a broad range of traveller segments, offering experiences that align with the campaign’s emotional themes and highlight the transformative potential of domestic tourism.

TAT Joins Krabi Stakeholders to Host “Amazing Krabi Green Guide Fest 2025”

Bangkok, 8 May 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in partnership with Krabi Province and key stakeholders, will host the Amazing Krabi Green Guide Fest 2025 from 15 to 18 May at Hat Noppharat Thara–Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park. The eco-focused festival, themed “Green Vibes,” aims to position Krabi as a global model for sustainable tourism.

Mr. Ampol Silathevakul, Governor of Krabi, said, “This is a key opportunity to showcase Krabi’s readiness to lead as a green tourism destination. It also helps build momentum for more responsible travel through activities that reflect our local identity and wisdom.”

TAT sees the festival as a catalyst for Krabi’s transformation into a true leader in sustainable tourism. Known for its pristine beaches, lush forests, and iconic islands, Krabi has long focused on sustainability, with an emphasis on community participation and environmental care.

The festival follows the ‘7 Greens’ and ‘5 Must Do in Thailand’ frameworks to deliver meaningful experiences while encouraging visitor participation in conservation efforts. Sustainability will be embedded in every aspect of the event.

Festival highlights include Green Recreation, with land and water activities like surfboard and skimboard classes, sound healing, yoga, and upcycling workshops. Green Music features live performances from local and national artists. Green Food presents sustainable cuisine through demos by top chefs using local ingredients. Green Art includes recycled art exhibitions, handicraft workshops, and cultural performances. Green Learning offers environmental education for families and youth, while Green Society fosters dialogue between travellers and local businesses. Finally, Green Tourism introduces low-carbon travel routes and immersive, community-based experiences.

The private sector is also playing a key role in advancing green tourism.

The festival is part of the Krabi Prototype project, through which TAT and partners across the tourism supply chain aim to position Krabi as a model destination for sustainable tourism. The initiative supports the global shift towards responsible travel, with a focus on measurable progress in Thailand’s tourism industry. Central to this is “Shape Supply”—encouraging businesses, communities, and attractions to meet TAT’s sustainability benchmarks, including the Sustainable Tourism Acceleration Rating (STGs STAR), CF-Hotels, and the Thailand Tourism Awards. The project also targets international recognition through platforms like Green Destinations’ Top 100 Stories and Tourism Cares.

The event is expected to attract over 5,000 visitors from Thailand and abroad, generating at least 35 million Baht in tourism revenue for the local economy.

Cabinet Approves Cooperation Framework for “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism & Sports Year 2025”

Bangkok, 8 May 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, welcomes the Cabinet’s official endorsement of the cooperation framework for the “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025” campaign, reaffirming the government’s commitment to elevating Thailand as a world-class destination for tourism and sports.

With Cabinet approval granted on 6 May 2025, all relevant agencies have been instructed to move forward in line with the campaign’s core objectives—to unify public and private sector efforts, enhance Thailand’s international competitiveness, and prepare for international visitors. The strategy, developed by the National Tourism Policy Committee, also mandates progress reporting to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

The campaign will be delivered through collaboration across 11 strategic focus areas:

  1. Aviation Sector

Incentives will be introduced to support airlines, including reduced service fees and operational costs. Airlines will be encouraged to increase frequencies, especially during peak periods, while fair pricing is maintained. Data integration via API systems will improve service delivery, and underutilised slot allocations will be activated. Additional slots will target secondary cities to ease congestion in major hubs. Oversight rests with the Ministries of Transport, Finance, and Tourism and Sports, alongside airline partners.

  • Accommodation, Food Services, and Tour Operators

Efforts will focus on promoting hotel chain campaigns, raising accommodation standards, and improving visibility for smaller properties through partnerships with travel agents and online platforms. National certification schemes—such as Thai Homestay and Home Lodge—will be promoted, led by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Thai Hotels Association.

  • Retail Sector

International visitors will benefit from exclusive discounts, privileges, and souvenir incentives. A nationwide cashless tourism platform and multi-currency VAT refund system will be implemented to enhance the tourist experience. The Ministries of Finance and Commerce, and leading retailers will coordinate this area.

  • Online Travel Agencies and Tour Companies

Promotions and travel packages will be rolled out via OTAs, covering both major and emerging destinations. Destination marketing and the development of high-potential tourism sites will also be prioritised. This area will be driven by the Ministries of Tourism and Sports, Finance, OTA platforms, and tourism business associations.

  • Public Transport Systems

Transport connectivity will be improved across all modes—land, rail, air, and sea—with a focus on reaching secondary cities. A key initiative includes the launch of the “Amazing Pass 1-Day Bangkok” to facilitate convenient urban travel. The Ministry of Transport will oversee this area.

  • Tourist Safety and Assistance

Volunteer training will support visitor hospitality across provinces. Tourist Assistance Centres will be established in all 77 provinces, with the 1155 Call Centre expanded into a 24-hour, one-stop service. Foreign language interpreters will also be deployed. Oversight lies with the Ministries of Tourism and Sports, Interior, and the Royal Thai Police.

  • Visa Policy

Visa exemptions will be extended, and new long-stay or business visa programmes introduced. Measures may include fee reductions and simplified online applications. The Ministries of Tourism and Sports and Foreign Affairs will manage this initiative.

  • Events and Festivals

Flagship events, including Songkran festivals, will be hosted nationwide. The government will promote more international-standard events and encourage investment in venues, hotels, and entertainment infrastructure. The Ministry of Culture, Creative Economy Agency, and Board of Investment will oversee these efforts.

  • Tourist Attractions

Initiatives like Night at the Museum will bring cultural venues to life after dark. Operating hours at national parks and attractions may be extended to accommodate increased visitor numbers. This area will be managed by the Ministries of Culture and Natural Resources and Environment.

  1. Public Relations

Tourism-related content will be actively promoted across traditional and digital media channels to boost national and regional visibility. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Public Relations Department will lead communications.

  1. Other Support Measures

Multilingual tour guides will be trained in key languages including French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Telecom providers will be encouraged to offer “Tourism SIM” cards to improve visitor connectivity. Oversight will be provided by the Ministries of Tourism and Sports, Foreign Affairs, and the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission.

Powered by the Cabinet-approved framework and multi-sector collaboration, the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025 campaign is projected to attract over 39 million international visitors and generate approximately 3.4 trillion Baht in tourism revenue. It is expected to deliver far-reaching benefits across the economy, tourism, sports, and cultural sectors, while solidifying Thailand’s image as a dynamic, sustainable, and world-class destination.

First introduced on the global stage at the World Travel Market in London in November 2024, the campaign has become a cornerstone of TAT’s 2025 international marketing strategy. Following its official global launch in February 2025, the campaign has been prominently featured at key global tourism events, including ITB Berlin and the Arabian Travel Market. The campaign showcases Thailand’s rich cultural and tourism assets through a year-long programme of festivals, sporting events, and national celebrations. Highlights include the 7 Months 7 Wonders series and the Maha Songkran World Water Festival.

Thailand Prepares to Host FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2025

Bangkok, 7 May 2025 – The Ministry of Tourism and Sports proudly confirms Thailand’s readiness to host the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2025, one of the most prestigious events in international volleyball. Scheduled for 22 August to 7 September 2025, the tournament will bring together 32 of the world’s top women’s national teams across four iconic Thai cities: Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Nakhon Ratchasima.

Mr. Sorawong Thienthong, Minister of Tourism and Sports, stated: “Hosting the championship aligns perfectly with the ‘Grand Sports’ series of the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025. It boosts Thailand’s global image, allows local fans to witness world-class volleyball, and is expected to generate over 8.5 billion Baht through tourism spending and worldwide media exposure, reaching more than 1.3 billion viewers.”

The participating teams represent five continents — three from Africa, four from Asia, 16 from Europe, six from the NORCECA region, and three from South America. Powerhouses such as    the USA, China, Japan, Brazil, Türkiye, Italy, the Netherlands, and reigning champions Serbia will join host nation Thailand, reinforcing the tournament’s truly global reach.

The tournament opens with the Pool Phase from 22–27 August across all four cities. The top 16 teams will move on to the knockout rounds in Bangkok, beginning with the Round of 16 from 29 August–1 September, followed by the Quarter-Finals on 3–4 September, Semi-Finals on 6 September, and the Final on 7 September. Rest days will be scheduled between phases.

Each host city offers a unique combination of sporting legacy, local culture, and visitor appeal. Bangkok, the capital, has hosted four Asian Games, the World University Games, and major volleyball events including the 2024 VNL Women’s Finals. Chiang Mai, Thailand’s second-largest city, hosted the 1995 Women’s Asian Championship and in 2023, welcomed both the Southeast Asia Volleyball League and Beach Pro Tour. Nakhon Ratchasima, a volleyball heartland, has previously hosted the Asian Club Championship, the 2019 U19 World Championship, and several Olympic qualifiers. Phuket, Thailand’s largest island, boasts a strong beach volleyball tradition, having hosted multiple FIVB World Tour tournaments and the 2021 U19 and U21 World Championships.

Thailand is setting a new benchmark in sports event sustainability through its “Green Heart Event” model — focused on reducing waste, conserving resources, and ensuring eco-friendly operations at every stage.

Other major events include the 33rd SEA Games in December, the 13th ASEAN Para Games in January 2026, the MotoGP PT Grand Prix, the Muaythai World Festival, the Honda LPGA Thailand, and a series of UTMB trail running races.

Volleyball holds a strong presence in Thailand as the country’s second most-watched sport. The women’s national team, consistently ranked in the world’s top 15, has a passionate fan base and will be a major draw as Thailand welcomes the world. The FIVB World Championship builds on momentum from other 2025 events, including the SEA V.League Final, marking a landmark year for Thai volleyball.

Stricter Regulations for Diving Activities Now in Effect in Thailand

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) advises all travellers, divers, and snorkelling enthusiasts of nationwide regulations introduced to safeguard the country’s marine environments.

Effective from 22 April 2025, the stricter rules—issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment—aim to protect coral reefs and fragile marine ecosystems by establishing clear standards for diving and snorkelling activities.

These measures are legally enforceable under the Marine and Coastal Resources Management Act and will remain in effect across the country for five years.

Operator Responsibilities

All diving operators must now ensure that every trip is accompanied by a certified dive supervisor or assistant. For snorkelling near coral reefs, tourists must be provided with life vests and wear them at all times, unless they hold a recognised freediving certificate.

Diving Activity Regulations

Before any activity begins, supervisors must brief participants on applicable laws and responsible diving practices. In protected areas—such as national parks or designated marine zones—any additional legal requirements must also be clearly explained.

For deep dives, one supervisor may oversee up to four participants. In snorkelling and freediving, one supervisor may manage up to 20 people, with additional supervisors or assistants required if this number is exceeded.

Introductory dive sessions must follow a stricter ratio of one supervisor per two learners. Certified dive instruction may proceed at a ratio of one instructor per four students, provided the activity complies with coral protection protocols.

Photography during training or instructional dives is prohibited unless conducted by a qualified diver who has completed an Advanced Open Water certification (PADI, SSI, or equivalent) or logged at least 40 dives. Proof of certification or participation in an accredited underwater photography course must be provided upon request.

Only divers who meet these same qualifications may carry cameras during recreational dives. Valid certification or a dive log must be presented to officials if requested.

When diving near coral reefs, participants must remain at least two metres above coral heads to avoid direct contact. If using fins, supervisors must ensure tourists understand proper control techniques and allow only those with sufficient skill to approach coral areas.

For snorkelling, wearing a life vest is mandatory unless the individual holds a recognised freediving certificate, which must be presented to authorities upon request.

Restricted Activities in Coral Reef Zones

Several activities are now strictly prohibited in coral reef areas. Supervisors and assistants must not move, handle, or display coral, marine animals, or any sea life for tourists. Contact with marine organisms is forbidden under all circumstances.

Behaviours that stir up sediment—such as poor fin control—are banned, as they risk smothering coral and causing lasting damage. Feeding fish, littering, or causing any form of disturbance to reef habitats is not permitted.

Underwater walking tours, including Sea Walker and other seabed-based activities, are also prohibited in coral zones.

Enforcement and Penalties

If a tourist fails to follow supervisor instructions—such as refusing to wear a life vest or touching coral—their activity must be immediately suspended. Supervisors are required to report any such violations promptly to marine or national park authorities.

Dive operators, supervisors, and assistants who fail to enforce these rules may have their certification or operating licence revoked. These restrictions do not apply to academic, research, or conservation dives conducted under official supervision.

Thailand’s Commitment to Marine Conservation

These regulations underscore Thailand’s commitment to protecting its marine ecosystems while promoting responsible tourism. Travellers are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the new rules and engage only with certified operators who comply fully with national standards.

TAT Announces “KAWS:HOLIDAY” Thailand at Sanam Luang

Sanam Luang, steeped in cultural and cosmological significance, provides the perfect backdrop for this monumental open-air installation. Visitors will encounter an 18-metre-tall COMPANION sculpture, seated on the Earth and cradling the Moon, symbolising the passing of wisdom, care, and values through generations.

Rooted in ancient Mandala traditions and situated beside the Grand Palace, Sanam Luang represents the intersection of the celestial and earthly realms. This profound symbolism is beautifully reflected in KAWS’s latest work, blending contemporary creativity with timeless tradition.

The event is made possible through the support of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, TAT, and local partners including Central The 1 Credit Card, Plan B Media Public Company Limited, and Lighting & Equipment Public Company Limited. As part of the “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025”, the Thai Pavilion serves as a dynamic hub for business and cultural exchange, while TAT also strengthened ties with leading regional travel partners—Emirates, Etihad, and dnata Travel.

Located in Hall 7 at booth AS7510, the Thai Pavilion spans 315 square metres and was officially opened by Thailand’s Ambassador to the UAE, H.E. Mr. Sorayut Chasombat, alongside Ms. Thapanee and executives from TAT and Team Thailand.

This year, the pavilion hosts 55 Thai tourism operators—from leading travel companies to niche local businesses—engaging directly with buyers from across the region. It showcases Thailand’s diverse tourism offerings, from wellness and luxury to cultural and eco experiences, encouraging deeper exploration beyond traditional destinations.

Designed under the theme “Thailand’s Charm”, the pavilion reflects Thai elegance and hospitality while spotlighting the “Thailand’s 5 Must Do” experiences. It features dedicated zones for business meetings, media interviews, cultural demonstrations, travel information, and guest hospitality.

Cultural activities run throughout the event, including live demonstrations of hand-painted umbrellas and fans from Chiang Mai’s San Kamphaeng district—symbols of Northern Thai craftsmanship. Daily cultural showcases highlight major Thai festivals such as the Maha Songkran World Water Festival, Loi Krathong, the Isan Rocket Festival, and the UNESCO-recognised Nora dance of Southern Thailand. The opening ceremony featured “Suvarnabhumi”, a contemporary performance celebrating the rich heritage of the Golden Triangle.

On opening day, TAT also signed Memorandum of Cooperation with Emirates, represented by Mr. Orhan Abbas, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations Far East, and Etihad, represented by Group CEO Mr. Antonoaldo Neves. A separate agreement was signed with dnata Travel, represented by Mr. John Bevan, further strengthening Thailand’s tourism ties with the Middle East.

That same evening, TAT hosted the media launch of the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025. The campaign focuses on five strategic pillars—Grand Festivity, Grand Moment, Grand Privilege, Grand Invitation, and Grand Celebration—designed to spotlight Thailand’s culture, lifestyle, and expanding role in global tourism and sports. Guests were also introduced to new initiatives to enhance the visitor experience, including the rollout of the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) from 1 May to streamline entry.

TAT also unveiled targeted experiences for key market segments. Wellness-focused retreats in Samui and holistic treatments in Bangkok aim to position Thailand as a global medical and wellness hub. Family-friendly getaways, like organic farmstays in Khao Yai and wildlife safaris in Kui Buri, cater to Middle Eastern family travellers. For Gen Y and Z, urban shopping districts and Bangkok’s Creative Districts offer vibrant lifestyle and cultural appeal.

The Middle East continues to be a crucial market for Thailand with 162,790 travellers from the region have visited Thailand as of 22 April 2025. Middle Eastern visitors stay an average of 13.6 days and spend nearly 90,000 Baht per trip, with over half being first-time travellers. Their top activities include enjoying Thai cuisine, beaches, wellness, nightlife, and exploring historical sites, with favourite destinations including Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi, Chon Buri, and Surat Thani. By the end of the year, TAT hopes to bring in 1.1 million arrivals form the Middle East and the Africa, generating over 98 billion Baht.

TAT Hosts Amazing Thailand Health & Wellness Trade Meet 2025

Bangkok, 28 April 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) successfully hosted the Amazing Thailand Health & Wellness Trade Meet 2025, welcoming 100 international buyers to Bangkok for a one-day showcase of the country’s health and wellness offerings.

Held at The Ritz-Carlton Bangkok, the event brought together global buyers and over 50 Thai businesses in a setting designed to foster collaboration, business matching, and exchange of ideas.

Mrs. Chiravadee Khunsub, Deputy Governor for International Marketing of Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, and Africa, said: “This annual trade event is part of our broader Amazing Thailand Health & Wellness Journey initiative to position Thailand as a quality destination for health and wellness travel. It also supports the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025, reinforcing our focus on high-value, experience-led tourism across sectors like wellness, medical care, and active lifestyles.”

Buyers came from across key markets—Europe, ASEAN, South Asia, the South Pacific, East Asia, the Americas, the Middle East, and Africa—reflecting global interest in Thailand’s wellness sector.

The programme opened with a sector update from TAT and a Wellness Talk on the theme ‘Wellness Hub Thailand’ by Dr. Tanupol Virunhagarun, CEO of BDMS Wellness Clinic and BDMS Wellness Resort, Bangkok Dusit Medical Services Public Company Limited.

In his remarks, Dr. Tanupol highlighted Thailand’s strong potential to become a global wellness hub, citing government policy, world-class medical infrastructure, and rising global demand for preventive health. He emphasised the country’s natural assets, Thai hospitality, and integrative healthcare as key strengths, with BDMS Wellness Clinic aiming to help position Thailand among the world’s top five wellness destinations.

Attendees also engaged in traditional Thai wellness experiences, including making personalised inhalers and healthy snacks and learning holistic self-care rooted in Thai elemental theory.

In the afternoon, 50 Thai businesses presented offerings ranging from integrative medicine and spa treatments to holistic retreats and hospital-based services. Sellers included leading wellness resorts like Chiva-Som, Kamalaya and Sri Panwa; internationally recognised centres such as BDMS Wellness Clinic, RAKxa Integrative Wellness and Bangkok Hospital Pattaya; and a diverse range of high-quality operators nationwide.

Ahead of the event, TAT hosted a familiarisation trip from 21–24 April for buyers from the Americas, Middle East, Africa, ASEAN, South Asia, and the South Pacific. Post-event trips, from 26–29 April, will allow buyers from East Asia and Europe to experience Thai wellness in real-world settings.

Wellness tourists are a high-value segment, spending an average of 100,259 Baht per person per trip. The event is expected to contribute to a shift in Thailand’s tourism structure towards attracting more quality travellers from around the world.
