Thailand Tourism Awards spotlight sustainability with 151 honours

Bangkok, 5 September 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) warmly congratulates the winners of the 15th Thailand Tourism Awards, with 151 outstanding operators set to receive their honours at a royal presentation ceremony to be presided over by Her Royal Highness Princess Ubolratana on 27 September 2025 at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok. The prestigious event, part of the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025 celebrations, highlights three decades of the nation’s most respected tourism accolades.

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, extended her congratulations to all the recipients of the 15th Thailand Tourism Awards. She said: “Their achievements highlight the strength and international calibre of Thailand’s tourism sector. Through these awards, TAT is committed to raising the quality of Thai tourism products and services while advancing the national strategy for sustainable growth. These recognitions will further enhance the credibility and reputation of Thailand’s tourism industry worldwide. They also reflect the spirit of partnership and collaboration that continues to reinforce Thailand’s position as a meaningful and sustainable destination.”

Established in 1996, the Thailand Tourism Awards are held biennially to promote quality standards and showcase Thailand’s diverse tourism experiences to global audiences. Now in its 30th year, the Awards introduced for the first time the Thailand Tourism Sustainability Awards, spotlighting leadership in responsible tourism management and reflecting the growing importance of sustainability in global travel.

This year’s five award categories cover tourist attractions, accommodation, health and wellness tourism, tour programmes, and tourism support and promotion of sustainable tourism.

A distinguished panel of experts carefully reviewed entries based on four key criteria: product and service excellence, excellence in sustainable and responsible tourism management, excellence in business operations, and excellence in support and promotion of sustainable tourism.

In total, 17 operators received the Thailand Tourism Excellence Awards, 59 were recognised with the Outstanding Awards, and 69 earned the newly established Sustainability Awards.

Six organisations achieved Hall of Fame status, reserved for those winning top honours for three consecutive editions. This year’s Hall of Fame recipients are the Lanna Traditional House Museum, Centre for the Promotion of Arts and Culture, Chiang Mai University, Chiang Mai; Ban Na Ton Chan Homestay Community Enterprise, Sukhothai; Phuket Old Town Community-based Tourism Enterprise, Phuket; The Riverie by Katathani Collection, Chiang Rai; Let’s Relax Spa Thonglor, Bangkok; and “Touch Thailand Without Barriers” tour programme for visually impaired travellers by Nutty’s Adventures Company Limited.

TAT showcases Thailand’s tourism leadership at ITE HCMC 2025

Bangkok, 4 September 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is participating in the International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City 2025 (ITE HCMC 2025) from 4 to 6 September at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center, underscoring “The New Thailand” vision to strengthen its leading role in advancing tourism growth and regional connectivity across ASEAN.

Representing Thailand at the ministerial session, Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, said “Thailand is committed to driving ASEAN tourism forward by fostering collaboration, expanding air connectivity, and delivering innovative experiences that reflect our cultural richness and sustainable practices. Participation at ITE HCMC 2025 reaffirms Thailand’s leadership in regional travel and our role as a trusted partner in shaping the future of tourism.”

Ms. Thapanee’s role in the ministerial session and panel discussion on “Shaping the Future of Tourism: Embracing Digital and Green Transformation” further highlights Thailand’s active contribution to advancing tourism dialogue at the regional level.

Now in its 19th year, ITE HCMC is recognised as Vietnam’s leading international tourism trade fair. It is set to welcome over 520 exhibitors from more than 30 countries and about 28,000 attendees.

At the Thailand Pavilion, six Thai tourism businesses are showcasing products and services: Maple Hotel, Urbana Langsuan Hotel, Lark Holidays, Chiang Mai Night Safari, Phuket Jet Tour, and SAii Hotels & Resorts Thailand including Santiburi Koh Samui. Visitors can also experience Thai cultural heritage through Lai Yang fabric demonstrations from Phetchaburi, including gilded textile painting, DIY rosebud keychains, and traditional Thai costumes.

TAT is introducing new experiences for Vietnamese travellers through its “5 Must Do in Thailand” strategy, ranging from Michelin-starred dining and Bangkok street food to adventure activities such as tandem skydiving in Rayong and cultural festivals like Loi Krathong in Sukhothai. Major international events including Tomorrowland Thailand 2026, Rolling Loud, Wonderfruit, and the Honda LPGA Thailand further enrich the country’s calendar, alongside themed journeys by bus, train, luxury rail, and river cruise.

Looking ahead to the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Vietnam in 2026, TAT is launching campaigns such as “Thái Lan, càng hiểu càng yêu” (the more you know, the more you love), with exclusive promotions and group travel privileges to deepen bilateral ties.

Vietnam remains one of Thailand’s most important short-haul markets, with travellers often returning several times a year. They are drawn to Thailand’s cuisine, history, nightlife, wellness, and beaches, while also showing growing interest in emerging destinations such as Kanchanaburi, Ayutthaya, Khao Yai, Phang-Nga, and Krabi. TAT expects arrivals from Vietnam to reach no less than 900,000 by 2026.

Air connectivity continues to strengthen, with five airlines – Thai Airways International, AirAsia, Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Airlines, and Vietravel Airlines – operating more than 13,400 flights this year between six Vietnamese cities and Bangkok, Phuket, and Chiang Mai. New routes include the Bangkok–Hai Phong service launched by AirAsia in July.

To build traveller confidence, TAT is advancing the “Trusted Thailand” certification to guarantee high standards of safety, security, communication, and transport access, supported by nationwide measures such as the Tourist Police mobile app, CCTV upgrades, and expanded assistance services.

At the same time, TAT is driving sustainable tourism through the STAR (Sustainable Tourism Acceleration Rating) programme, the CF-Hotels emissions tool, and the Thailand Tourism Awards, which celebrate operators excelling in quality and sustainability.

Thailand Spa and Wellbeing Awards 2025 honour leaders in wellness tourism

Bangkok, 3 September 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) warmly congratulated the winners of the Thailand Spa and Wellbeing Awards 2025, held on 21 August at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok. Organised by the Thai Spa Association under the theme “Honouring Creativity, Celebrating Sustainability”, the awards reinforced Thailand’s position as a world leader in wellness tourism.

“Love on Earth” festival highlights Thailand’s sustainable tourism vision

Bangkok, 3 September 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is hosting the “Love on Earth” festival in Khao Yai, Nakhon Ratchasima on 6–7 September 2025 at the TAT Eco Park, underscoring Thailand’s commitment to sustainable tourism and international standards in eco-friendly event management. The festival is free to attend.

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, said “The Love on Earth festival is a showcase of Thailand’s dedication to sustainable tourism. By integrating local culture, creativity, and innovation with eco-friendly practices, we aim to inspire both Thai and international visitors to embrace responsible travel that creates meaningful value for communities while protecting the environment.”

Organised under the concept of a Green Event and themed Green Vibes, the initiative supports Thailand’s national targets of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and Net Zero emissions by 2065. The festival is designed to minimise environmental impact and promote responsible travel through renewable energy use, recyclable materials, waste reduction, and community-based tourism. It will be certified as a Carbon Neutral Event by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organisation (TGO).

The programme presents six activity pillars. Green Recreation features yoga, camping, and wellness activities designed to reduce carbon footprints while promoting health and relaxation. Green Music brings eco-friendly concerts powered by renewable energy and energy-saving systems. Green Art showcases photography, sculpture, land art, and installations from recycled or natural materials, alongside interactive eco workshops. Green Food highlights award-winning local cuisine made with organic, locally sourced, and sustainably traded ingredients, with cooking demonstrations by leading chefs and culinary talents. Green Learning & Green Society presents exhibitions on sustainability, workshops on waste management, and CSR initiatives such as tree planting and recycling. Green Tourism highlights sustainable operators, eco-certified hotels, and creative routes from local communities, including low-carbon one-day trips in Khao Yai.

TAT builds global bridge for travel tech innovation

Bangkok, 2 September 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced the successful hosting of the “TAT Travel Tech Startup Networking: Together for Future Travel” event, a platform designed to link Travel Tech Startups with tourism operators, investors, and policymakers. The initiative reinforces Thailand’s strategy to position innovation as a driving force for sustainable growth and global competitiveness in tourism.

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, said “Tourism is entering a new chapter where innovation defines success. By bringing together startups, traditional businesses, and public sector partners, Thailand is shaping a tourism ecosystem that is resilient, forward-looking, and aligned with international sustainability standards. This collaboration enhances visitor experiences while strengthening Thailand’s standing as a global leader in quality tourism.”

Held on 29 August 2025, the programme featured “TAT Vibe Talk – Reboot Tourism with Innovation,” with keynote contributions from leading experts in innovation, aviation, investment promotion, and big data.

Speakers included Dr. Krithpaka Boonfueng, Executive Director of the National Innovation Agency; Mr. Akkarawit Taphasit, Executive Director of the Tourism Investment Promotion Department at TAT; Dr. Anchalisa Taetrakul, Acting Director of the Travel Link Special Project at the Big Data Institute (Public Organisation); Mr. Surawut Sristhita, Manager of Ancillary and Partnership at Thai AirAsia and Thai AirAsia X; Mr. Tadsawit Intasuwan, Chief Operating Officer of Golfdigg Co., Ltd.; and Mr. Anan Prasertrungreung, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of AIRPORTELs.

A dedicated networking session followed, enabling entrepreneurs and tourism businesses to share insights, form partnerships, and explore new opportunities. More than 100 participants, including Travel Tech Startups, government agencies, online platforms, and international media, attended the event.

Now in its third edition, the TAT Travel Tech Startup initiative has provided a springboard for entrepreneurs applying digital solutions to traveller needs and industry challenges. Past winners have gained exposure and new business opportunities through TAT’s international trade events and tourism campaigns. This latest event marks another step in building an integrated innovation ecosystem to drive Thai tourism towards a sustainable future.
